SHEET 01 — WHO

Hey ! I'm Martin,

an open-minded AI Engineer

AI is changing the world, and I can't just sit around and watch. In between engineering and product management, I've led the development of an AI SaaS product for over 2 years before coming back to my roots in AI engineering at MecAgent.

About me

Here is some general information concerning myself.

I'm currently learning what our world is made of at MecAgent

At MecAgent, we are trying to bring AI capabilities in CAD environments. For me, this means studying the basics of mechanical engineering in order to understand this field better. It's such a blast diving in this absolutely fascinating domain that is so embedded in our everyday lives that we don't even see it !

My first job before that was Product Manager

After my end-of-studies internship at Araïko, I got hired as a First Product Manager to lead a product pivot in the company, releasing a knowledge transfer app for French industrial companies. I fell in love with AI during my 6 years studying engineering for its seemingly infinite possibilities of empowering individuals to bring change - and it's exactly what I loved at this job : using new tech for concrete everyday impact.

I was a student at UTBM ... :france:

My home university was the Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard, where I spent nearly 4 years studying engineering. Two of those four years were dedicated to general engineering knowledge, and I specialized in Computer Science - more specifically Data Science and Artificial Intelligence - in the latter two.

... but also at UQAC ! :canada:

To perfect my craft in AI and other fields of computer science, I also went to Québec for a year at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Not only has this year abroad granted me a "Mastery in Computer Science", but it also allowed me to discover Québec, it's amazing natural spaces, as well as the other side of the thermometer.

I've also spent 6 months in Luxembourg ... :lux:

I did a mid-studies internship developing a module for the enterprise resource planning software of Luxembourg Online SA, as well as multiple modernization projects for elements of the company. It was very formative, not only because it was my first long-term professional experience but also because of the cultural diversity I discovered living in Luxembourg City.

... as well as a couple of years in New York City and Paris ! :us::france:

I was brought up and did the first couple years of my education at the Lycée Français de New York in the United States, and then finished my primary and secondary education back in France, in Paris. This duality allowed me to be fluent in both French and English from a young age, but also accustomed me to being curious and open-minded, and is what made me the cosmopolitan person I am today.

I've talked a lot about my studies,
but I also do other stuff !

I'm passionate about sports

I have been doing and watching sports since as far as I can remember. Not only do I love the exercise and challenge, I am also a firm believer of "mens sana in corpore sano" : it helps me clear my mind and be more productive. I play beach volleyball competitively, I run, I go to the gym : I'm down for any activity !
Some of my proudest achievements include :
  • participating in the French Beach Volleyball circuit.
  • running the Barcelona marathon with my dad.
  • winning the Paris badminton championship.

I like trying stuff

Whether it is by cooking or by doing projects like this website, I love to take on new challenges and see myself improve at new skills. I especially enjoy trying to be creative with what I know and adding my touch to the things I do. I have a lot of fun learning a new skill and perfecting it by trial and error while creating something unique : even if it fails, at least I've learnt something ! This being said, I'm not always good at it - this picture was taken right before I accidentally invented a new sushi roll : the hot mess.

I also love travelling ...

I have been lucky enough to travel to lots of places since I was a kid, and this shaped me to an eagerness when it comes to discovering new places, new cultures, new sights. My travels have taken me to America, Canada, Mexico, Lebanon, Iceland, Scandinavia, most of Europe : but it's still not enough. I now crave more sustainable trips with friends or family - it's a perfect cocktail of blowing off steam, learning new stuff and having a fun time !

... and just discovering new things

My curiosity does not limit to travelling, I love learning and coming across knowledge, places, skills : basically anything I don't know ! As a lifelong learner and curious individual, I am always seeking out new opportunities to discover and learn about new things. Whether it's picking up a new hobby, exploring a new field of knowledge, or tackling a challenging problem, I thrive on the excitement and satisfaction that comes from learning something new. I particularly enjoy general culture and history, two fields I find truly fascinating and I'm trying to get better at, one day at a time.
